Grandpa Bob thought it was time to show Maxwell his very favorite hardware store, Marine Hardware in Anacortes. Maxwell's favorite thing in the store was the large yellow rope. Maxwell did a great job visiting with the store clerk. After visiting with Max, the clerk said Max would do great in school.

Big changes!
There have been a few big changes around our house these past couple of weeks. Maddy started daycare last week, she cried for about 2 hours, did ok playing outside, then during the afternoon apparently spent much of the time standing by the door holding her bag, anxiously awaiting daddy! She went again yesterday and apparently things went much better :-)
Then yesterday was Halloween, and boy did the kids score! Max was a bat, and Maddy was a puppy (see above), and we stayed in our neighborhood and there were TONS of kids here. They had a great time and Max was busy sorting his candy for most of last night and this morning.
Now for the most exciting change...Maddy went poop on the potty today!!!!! We were sitting at the dinner table and she got a funny look on her face, looked at me and said, "poop," then grunted a little. I pulled her out of her seat, expecting the job to already be done, but realized she hadn't gone, we both went to her potty and she sat down, grunted, and there was the poop! We all had a fun little victory dance for her in the living room, and she was really excited! Not to shabby for a 17 1/2 month old!

Welcome to Fall
We spent a great day this past weekend at The Farm at Swan Trail, a pumpkin patch in Snohomish. Above are a few pictures from our day!
As for a Max and Maddy update, both are keeping us busy! Max is still going to the Goddard School, he is now in Preschool 2 and is doing great. He's loving "working" with his tool sets, playing with his cars, and playing with his trains. He's also really looking forward to being a bat this Halloween, and has worn his costume about 10 times in the past week, let's hope it lasts another couple of weeks!
Maddy is also doing well, she's finally growing a bit, still tiny, but putting on some inches. She apparently decided that she didn't like babyfood at all, so now that she's got some teeth (12 to be exact), she's eating grown-up food. A dinner of steak and risotto is her favorite! She's been saying lots of new words as well, of course mama, dada, hi, bye, but also cat, dog, up, potty, bottle, and hot. She's only 17 months but she's also showing quite a bit of interest in the potty, and we are taking advantage of it! Hoping diapers can be out of our life for good pretty soon!
Enjoy the pictures!

Maddy's Words
Maddy said "bite" for the first time today, and for a girl who is in the 1.13% for weight, that's a big win! As for other words in Maddy's budding vocabulary we have Momma, Dadda, MaMa (max), up, down, out (of her carseat), hi, and bye!

Max Update
Max is rapidly nearing his 3rd birthday...how did that happen??? This week has been big for him. He is beginning to transition into the next class at school...which is PRESCHOOL!!! His teacher says he's been doing a great job during his time in preschool, and that he's definitely ready for it. The preschool teacher said Max has already mastered almost all of the puzzles in the preschool classroom, and Max is excited to be back in class with his friend Hunter, who moved up there a couple of months ago. We are also in full potty training mode. Max needs to be potty trained before he's able to go to preschool for good, and last week was Potty Extravaganza at school and he really took off. We are at 3 days now with no accidents, wish we would have started this a couple of months ago!
Maddy's First Step
Maddy took her first step today! She was in the middle of Max's bedroom while I was hanging up some clothes, and she stood right up, took a step with her left foot, and stood for a bit longer! Far from a true walker, but our little girl is growing up quick! Speaking of little, Maddy's weight has dropped off to the 2nd percentile (she was born in the 7th). She isn't taking well to solids, after 4+ months of trying, but we're still working on it. We've met with a speech therapist to see what's going on, but no answers as of yet. She eats what she wants...which is primarily milk, pretzels, and chocolate Haagen Daaz ice cream, which she eats with a vengance. So for now, we're loading up on milk and ice cream and hoping she catches up soon!

Maddy's Crawling
She's been on the brink for weeks, rocking back and forth and stumbling over that darn right arm, but today she is officially able to make multiple "steps" on her hands and knees without falling to her tummy! She's pretty excited about this new feat, and she's awfully quick!

Maddy's First Dinner
Tonight Maddy ate rice cereal for the first time! She's been enviously watching us all eat for about a month now, and last week started waking in the middle of the night to eat (a break from her normal 8+ hours of sleep), so we took the cues and gave it a try early. She didn't have any trouble physically eating it, but she looked like she just bit into a lemon! Max never did like rice cereal, no matter how many times I tried, looks like his baby sister might follow in his footsteps!
